As a crossroads for instrumental and vocal classes, the vocal conducting class at the Haute école de musique de Genève is a prime venue for musical exchanges.
A place for sharing, meeting and discussion, it offers our students the opportunity to develop their taste for chamber music and gives them the chance to reflect on different performance options.
The vocal conducting classe prepares students for a professional career in either the concert or opera repertoire. All first-year students take the same courses and work on both repertoires. They take courses in diction, sight-reading, ensemble playing, etc.
In the second year, students focus on their specific field: accompaniment, which includes instrumental and vocal recitals, or vocal conducting, consisting solely of the opera repertoire, including participation in a production at the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Throughout the course, there are numerous and varied opportunities to perform in public, whether within the HEM, by participating in the rich musical life of the Geneva region through concerts, festivals and private events, or by giving private lessons.
